Software developers (like me!) have been using a site called “Stack Overflow” for years now to ask questions, answer questions, build a rep and generally interact in a way that stereotypical “computer geeks” rarely have before.
Recently, the Stack Overflow engine has been updated to allow new sites on all kinds of topics to be proposed and implemented and not surprisingly “Poker” is one of those new topics.
In order to get it off the ground we need to build a community of poker players who can help get the site off the ground. From the FAQ:
Someone proposed a greate site. How do I get involved?
- Follow it. If you will use the proposed site, click on the “Follow It!” link. A site gets created when it has a show of support from enough potential users. If a site doesn’t have followers, it will not get created.
- Help design the community. We design these communities by proposing hypothetical questions, and then discussing whether or not they are good questions for the site. Each site is as much defined by what it excludes as what it includes, so coming up with some off-topic questions is just as valuable as on-topic questions.
If this sounds interesting to you head over to the proposed site in Area 51 (the Stack Exchange new site staging zone), follow it and get involved. It’s definitely got the potential to be a really great poker resource.
Designing and running communities is not a easier task..and one like you who can do this are genius in my books.
